Parabens

Used as inhibiters of microbial growth and to extend shelf life of over 15,000 body care products.  Widely used even though they are known to cause many allergic reactions and skin rashes.  Has as estrogen effect in that it mimics estrogen in both male and female bodies.  Parabens are commonly found in tumors associated with breast cancer and there is substantial evidence that the body is unable to break parabens down and excrete it.

The recent discovered estrogenic effects of certain synthetic chemicals, such as the parabens, and their subsequent effects on the endocrine system of humans and wildlife, is of growing concern –especially in relation to women’s risk of breast cancer.  Recent research indicate these chemicals may result in  reproductive abnormalities in young boys exposed to them either prior to puberty or as fetuses.  Such exposure may increase the risk for undescended testicles, testicular cancer, sperm abnormalities, and prostate disorders
